Towards an Optical Gas Standard for Traceable Calibration-Free and Direct NO2 Concentration Measurements

چکیده

We report a direct tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (dTDLAS) instrument developed for NO2 concentration measurements without chemical pre-conversion, operated as an Optical Gas Standard (OGS). An OGS is dTDLAS that can deliver gas species amount fractions (concentrations), any previous or routine calibration, which are directly traceable to the international system of units (SI). Here, we fraction quantification in range 100–1000 µmol/mol demonstrate current capability car exhaust application. Nitrogen dioxide results delivered by good agreement with certified values reference mixtures, validating dTDLAS-OGS calibration-free measurements. As opposed standard method (SRM) based on chemiluminescence detection (CLD) where indirectly measured after conversion NO, titration O3 and resulting fluorescence, has benefit measuring distorting delaying processes. Therefore, it complements SRM perform fast measurements, side-by-side calibrations other analyzers operating field. The relative uncertainty reported this paper 5.1% (k = 1, dominated (98%) line strength), repeatability at 982.6 0.1%, response time 0.5 s, limit 825 nmol/mol resolution 86 s.

Towards a Traceable Infrastructure for Low Force Measurements

Over the past ten years or so the need for the measurement of low forces ranging from newtons down to attonewtons has become increasingly important. As we begin to manufacture and manipulate structures on the micrometre to nanometre scale, the forces that are exerted in such processes must be controlled. To control such forces requires some form of measurement, either a direct measurement of th...

Solid/Gas Concentration Measurements Using Multiple Fan Beam Optical Tomography

The application of optical sensors in process tomography involves using non-intrusive sensors to obtain vital information in order to produce images from the dynamic characteristics of a process system. Multiple fan beam projection technique here is defined as allowing more than one emitter to transmit light at the same time using the switch-mode fan beam method. For the thirty-two pairs of sen...

Progress Towards Traceable Nanoscale Optical Critical Dimension Metrology for Semiconductors

Non-imaging optical critical dimension (OCD) techniques have rapidly become a preferred method for measuring nanoscale features in semiconductors. OCD relies upon the measurement of an optical reflectance signature from a grating target as a function of angle, wavelength and/or polarization. By comparing the signature with theoretical simulations, parameters of the grating lines such as critica...

Nist Traceable Radon Calibration System for Calibrating

The NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) has recently made available 222Rn emanation standards for test and evaluation. The NIST certified parameters include the ^ ~ a strength and the emanation coefficient. When such a source is loaded into a radon leak tight enclosure of a known volume, 222~n accumulates over time and it is possible to calculate precisely the time integrated ...
